Pearce Geoghegan

Assistant Psychologist

Pearce Geoghegan is an Assistant Psychologist at CCATS. Pearce holds a BA (Hons) in Psychology from the National University of Ireland, Galway, and an MSc in Forensic Psychology from Maastricht University. He is currently completing a PhD in Forensic Psychology at Liverpool John Moores University, focusing on the development of a tool to support the formulation of self-injurious behaviour within high secure forensic mental health settings.

Pearce’s role within CCATS involves supporting registered Psychologists across children’s residential homes through the delivery of psychological interventions, staff training, and reflective practice. He works with young people presenting with a range of complex needs.

Pearce is trained to utilise a variety of psychological and forensic assessment tools, including the HCR-20v3, SAPROF, PCL-R, DUNDRUM, SVR-20, IPDE, SCID-5, and WAIS-IV.

Previously, Pearce completed a clinical and research internship at Ashworth High Secure Hospital, gaining experience in psychological assessment, therapeutic interventions, and forensic research. He has experience working with individuals presenting with complex mental health and forensic needs, including co-facilitating LMV therapy.

Pearce currently holds a Research Assistant role within the Ashworth Research Centre, gaining experience in quantitative and qualitative research, statistical analysis, and delivering teaching and training in psychological and forensic topics.
